I am an interdisciplinary fisheries scientists broadly interested in the behavioural dimension of fisheries. I study both the behaviour of fishers (primarily anglers) and the behaviour of fishes, including the evolutionary consequences of trait-selective fisheries for fish behaviour and fisheries quality. In the BTypes project I am primarily pursueing field studies on the reality mining of exploited fish species. Together with my team of students and postdocs I am interested in understanding what fish do 24/7 at the scale of a lake and to study which behavioural type is captured by whom and by which fishing strategy. The knowledge is to be used for improving stock assessment and stocking practices.
